New Bike: 2005 Suzuki DR-Z 125

Today, after some hunting on Craig's List (again), we found a great 2005 Suzuki DR-Z 125 for my girlfriend. She's really excited about the bike and getting into riding. It needs a few minor repairs, like a new clutch lever, a new rear tire, replacement throttle body cap, and fork boots, but other than those minor things, it's in great shape.

We picked it up for $850, which brings our total on bikes bought this weekend to $1600…which is exactly, to the dollar, the amount that I had saved up for bikes. :)

New Bike: 2001 Honda XR50

After realizing that the PW50 was wrecked beyond reasonable cost for repair, and since Paxton was getting too tall for it, we decided to look for a new bike for him. We spent most of today shopping around the local bike shops trying to find something that would work for him for a decent price. Unfortunately, $1600 is just too much to spend on a "he might like riding" venture.

We found this 2001 Honda XR50 in immaculate condition on Craig's List for $750. The previous owner was a former Honda mechanic. The original owner was an elderly couple that bought the bike to take with their RV and never ended up using it. This is one of those rare gems. I didn't even know you could buy a used XR without a torn seat!

Even if Paxton doesn't end up using this, we're going to keep it as a pit bike. It's just too cherry to give up. It is so choice, I must say. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. ;)

Rape Sheets…What?!

While my girlfriend's son was having his cast removed (broken left radius and ulna), I noticed a box in a partially opened cabinet containing a box with a peculiar label. I snapped this blurry cell phone picture of it before the doctor came back into the room. I didn't get a look at what the label really actually read–probably something like "drape sheet"–because I didn't want to ruin the illusion that the doctor's office actually had a box containing "rape sheets". :)
